View location ↗From the charm of historic downtown to the shopping and restaurants along Sand Creek Road, Brentwood offers a blend of neighborhood character and everyday convenience. Explore local favorites and the schools that help shape the community.
Brentwood began as a farming community in eastern Contra Costa County in the late 1800s. Settlers established agricultural operations in the area around 1878, and the fertile landscape became known for its orchards and crops. The city officially incorporated in 1948, long before the residential neighborhoods and shopping destinations familiar today.
As the East Bay expanded, Brentwood evolved from a small agricultural town into a growing suburban city. Its farming heritage remains visible in the surrounding orchards, seasonal farm stands, cherry picking and historic downtown, even as new neighborhoods and businesses have taken shape.
Today, Brentwood blends its agricultural roots with modern shopping, dining, parks and established neighborhoods.
